Local talent will take centre stage as bands compete for the ultimate prize, an opening slot at ‘Live at Argyle’ with Kaiser Chiefs and Jake Bugg on Thursday 22nd May 2025. Each band will perform a 20-minute set, bringing their best energy and biggest tunes to impress the crowd.
And what’s the best part? The power is in your hands. The audience will decide the winner through live voting, so come along, enjoy fantastic local music, and help crown the next big act.

Event Rules: Band Eligibility: Bands must be local to Plymouth or surrounding areas. All band members must be over 18, with valid ID to confirm age. Each band can perform original music, but they are allowed to include one cover song during their 20-minute performance. Performance Slots & Equipment: Bands will have a 20-minute performance slot. Please ensure your set-up and soundcheck is completed within the allotted time. There will be shared backline equipment for all performers (e.g., drums, amps, etc.). Bands must bring their own instruments unless otherwise specified. No band is allowed to run over their allotted 20-minute slot. If a band exceeds their performance time, they will be disqualified from the competition. Audience Voting: Voting will be done via a secure online link. Audience members can vote only once per band. Only 18+ attendees will be eligible to vote. Conduct & Behaviour: All performers and attendees must adhere to a zero tolerance policy for inappropriate behaviour, including but not limited to: harassment, violence, or disruptive conduct. Any bands found to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during their performance will be disqualified from the competition. Health & Safety: All attendees must comply with venue health and safety guidelines, including any government advice or regulations regarding COVID-19. Bands and audience members must follow staff instructions during the event for safety and security reasons. Photography & Recording: By attending the event, you agree to be photographed or filmed for promotional purposes. Bands may also be asked to provide footage of their performances for social media or future marketing. Prizes & Benefits: The winning band will receive the opportunity to perform at the opening slot for the Kaiser Chiefs concert on 22nd May. This is non-transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash or any other benefits. Prizes are subject to availability, and the organisers reserve the right to substitute the prize with an equivalent value if necessary. Ticketing & Access: This event is 18+ only, and attendees must have a valid ID to enter.
