Star Power Supports Rexel Family Fun Day
We were delighted to welcome leading electrical distributor, Rexel UK to Home Park Stadium last week, bringing together over 40 suppliers of electrical, heating, plumbing and lighting products under one roof for their Rexel Family Fun Day Trade Roadshow
Rather than opt for a venue for a traditional exhibition setting, Rexel’s South West Area Manager Sean Owens selected Home Park Stadium as a venue for some added excitement.
Between networking sessions and product demonstrations, the 200 guests in attendance were treated to a stadium tour led by our in-house expert Paul Hart, before a meet and greet with Pilgrim Pete and Plymouth Argyle stars Mickel Miller and Bali Mumba, the latter having played in a 1-0 Sky Bet League One win over Oxford United at the same stadium less than 24 hours earlier.
Mr Owens said: “Every one of the staff were so accommodating, extremely friendly and very helpful, from the cleaning lady first thing in the morning to the catering staff throughout the day.
“A very special mention should go to Paul, who ran the tours for us and was absolutely brilliant. I went on the last tour at 7pm, thoroughly enjoyed it and the feedback that we got from all the customers that went on the tours during the afternoon and early evening was that they had a great time.”
Staying later than anticipated was a running theme of the highly successful event, and even the Argyle players got caught up in the atmosphere, as Sean explains.
“The two players [Mickel Miller and Bali Mumba] that came along for an hour actually stayed for about three and a half hours! They were fantastic. Mickel and Bali are two of the most genuine, down to earth, friendly, and sociable guys you could wish to meet.
“I took them round to meet all the suppliers and customers and they asked loads of questions, interacted with them, looked genuinely interested and weren’t in a rush to get away at any stage. I’ve done loads of events and met footballers who’d clearly rather be anywhere other than where they are and can’t get away quick enough…those two were the opposite.
“When customers with kids came in, they were brilliant with all of them and, again, a huge credit. They stayed as long as they could, and I really appreciated them for that. We had a good laugh all afternoon with them and really enjoyed their company. Pilgrim Pete was also a huge hit with everyone and really put in a shift!”
It was not just star power on display, though, as guests were also invited to sample the culinary quality on offer within the Mayflower Grandstand at Home Park Stadium.
Sean said: “The food was excellent. Food for mass catering events is not always the best, but we had loads of positive comments from everyone as to the high quality of food we had and I couldn’t fault it at all, it was excellent.
“We will 100% be using the facilities again, no question. It was superb.”
