Christmas at Argyle campaign aiming to bring people together this festive season

Christmas At Argyle

Plymouth Argyle is launching the Christmas at Argyle campaign, a series of community-focused events, aiming to bring people together this festive season.

The campaign is designed to create a lasting impact through a series of events and activities to support everyone in our community and bring people together this Christmas through football.

Paul Berne, Argyle’s Chief Executive Officer, commented: “Argyle is more than a football club, we’re at the heart of our community. Football brings people together and at this time of year, just as we do throughout the year, we want to make sure we support our community.”

Events So Far:
Open Home Park – Thursday, 4 December

On Thursday, 4 December, we opened our doors to anyone who may be experiencing loneliness or social isolation during the Christmas period. The club extended the warmth, comfort, and sense of belonging found at The Theatre of Greens to everyone in our community.

A host of familiar faces and club staff enjoyed warm drinks, hot pasties, mince pies and biscuits, alongside quizzes, tabletop games and Christmas cheer, to help combat the harmful impacts of social isolation over Christmas.

Thank you to Bidfood and Ginsters for their support with Open Home Park. Bidfood and Ginsters are long-term partners of the club, with Ginsters serving as principal partners of Project 35.

Christmas Carol Concert – Thursday, 4 December

Our popular annual Christmas Carol service returned on Thursday, 4 December.

Club Chaplain, Arthur Goode, led a service including readings from a wide range of Club representatives. Meanwhile, carols were accompanied by the Plymouth City Brass Academy Band and choirs from several local schools: Bickleigh Down Primary School, Laira Green Primary School, Manadon Vale Primary School, Mayflower Community Academy, Stoke Damerel Primary School and Widey Court Primary School.

Pilgrim Pete and Father Christmas made special appearances throughout the festivities, and a bucket collection took place for Project 35, with donations helping towards our community social impact project, in partnership with Ginsters.

Thank you to the 50/50 Lottery for supporting this event.

Project 35 Takeover – Argyle vs Rotherham United – Saturday, 13 December

Argyle’s Sky Bet League One match against Rotherham United was our second dedicated takeover game of the 2025/26 season for Project 35, our award-winning social impact project in partnership with Ginsters.

We are extremely thankful for the generosity shown by supporters of both clubs, as we took donations of food, money, and hygiene products, to support those most vulnerable in our communities through our Manadon Food Larder, and the wider food bank network.

This takeover was particularly needed to support families in the New Year period. Food bank usage is high in January due to rising cost of living and increased hardship after the Christmas period.

Our first-team will once again be visiting our local hospital to spread Christmas cheer to those who maybe spending some of the festive period in their care.

Players will be giving out gifts to children and spending time with them.
